Future of Architecture

A Policy for Architecture in Canada

Globally, various countries have committed to developing and adopting national Architectural Policies to help shape the future of the profession and to enhance the public’s understanding of the importance of quality build environment. In Canada, the Canadian Architectural Licensing Authorities have initiated an effort to create a national policy for architecture in service to the public interest.

This project is being undertaken by the Canadian Architectural Licensing Authorities in collaboration with the Canadian Council of University Schools of Architecture.

The aim of this policy is ultimately to:

  • create better built environments in Canada;
  • provide inspiration to government and the private sector to achieve more sustainable and just communities; and
  • help foster and cultivate the public’s understanding of the value of architecture.

The Policy for Architecture in Canada is intended to promote the creation of better buildings and communities which in turn contributes to the ecological, social, cultural and economic well-being of the cities and public spaces that shape the daily lives of all Canadians.

More information on this exciting initiative will be available on the soon to be released FOA website.
