Examination (ExAC)

The provincial and territorial architectural licensing authorities have the mandate to ensure both public safety and professional skilled delivery of architectural services in their respective jurisdictions. Mechanisms have been established to ensure the competence of architects, both when they enter the profession and throughout their professional careers. The licensing/registration examination is one of these mechanisms.

The Examination for Architects in Canada (ExAC) is developed, updated and administered by a national committee reporting directly to the Canadian Architectural Licensing Authorities (CALA). The exam is based upon General and Specific Objectives which define the areas and levels of knowledge of the architectural profession, which are measured to determine competency of the intern.

For further information about the exam content and scheduling, please refer to the website.
